Christmas Feeling

Christmas feelingWell, so far, we haven't had any unwanted ball invitations, so fingers crossed, we won't. Unless Pete has just not said anything yet! Anyway, we celebrated Kelvin's 22nd birthday last Saturday and treated him and Cooper to Pizza Hut, with the intention of going bowling afterwards. However, there weren't any lanes available before 10:30 pm, so we decided to give bingo a try. None of us had ever been before and we really enjoyed ourselves. Despite spending a small fortune on bingo cards and on various other bingo games we gave the slot machines a try and won absolutely nothing - no surprises there!

We've spent the remainder of the week putting up the Christmas tree and decorating the house and garden. I still can't believe it's almost Christmas and I still don't have that Christmas feeling. Usually, I love this time of year, and am always eager to get the house decorated - but for some reason, it simply doesn't feel as though it's just round the corner. All the same, I have got most of the presents sorted out and only need to get a couple more. Next, I will attempt the huge task of wrapping them all. I usually leave this until last, as I can't remember what I've bought and end up picking the paper off to make sure! At work, we've been making all sorts of decorations and I have been given the delightful task of sitting with various groups, sewing. Now I don't know too many 5 or 6 year olds that can sew and so extreme patience has been the key in keeping me from losing the plot completely. By the time I've finished threading umpteen needles, the first child has, inevitably, got a knot, or lost their needle or managed to sew themselves to the said decoration. By the end of the week, I have to strongly remind myself what Christmas is all about to stay sane. Even though I may have developed a nervous twitch, the children's pride in their self-made stockings will be worth it!

It's still touch and go whether my Mum and Bob will be over on the 18th, as he suffered a nasty fall a couple of weeks ago and injured his knees. He's been in a lot of pain and has just come off crutches, so obviously, it would be impossible for him to carry any suitcases or bags. Mum says he's doing much better, but we'll see. Knowing our luck, we'll all end up in the hospital over Christmas!

Madison has still not decided where she's going over Christmas. Kelvin has decided to spend it with Cooper. Although they were hoping to have moved into their new place they've just heard that renovation work is going very slowly and that the roof isn't done yet! I wonder what their plan B is?

We've still to sort out a rented car for Mum, and I need to give the caravan a once over before we attempt that fateful trip down to Norfolk. All we need is for the heater to have packed up, or mice to have moved in, and that will have me finished with caravanning forever!
