I can't believe
we're half way through half term already! It's been so nice
catching up on all the housework and cupboard sorting that never
gets done in term time.
Pete gave the family a lovely surprise at the end of last week,
by booking a short three-day trip to Euro Disney for us in March.
Seeing that I was flagging a bit and because Callum turns 12 this
August - when the "kids go free" deal ends - he decided
to call and find out just how much it would be. It turned out all
five of us could affordably stay in a self-catering cabin, with all
park passes included, so we're off!
I asked Callum to bring a holiday consent form home from school on
Friday and he asked why he needed to get one. At that particular
moment he was winding Harry up and the screaming and play fighting
just before school was driving me mad - so I blurted out that we
were planning to take them both to look at boarding schools for a
couple of days!
I went upstairs to escape the noise, and by the time I came back
down to kiss Callum goodbye, he'd gone. Mackenna said that
he'd left for the bus, already protesting as he went that he
was not going to boarding school! Poor Callum, I was going to tell
him I was joking before he left but I never got the chance. In the
evening, we decided to tell the children - predictably, they were
ecstatic. Even more so because Callum admitted that he'd gone
to school and told everyone he was being sent to boarding school.
The older kids excitedly told the younger ones about our trip to
Disney World in Florida when they were young and Harry became more
and more excited. His enthusiasm reached fever pitch and
consequently, we were woken up in the middle of the night by Harry
throwing up.
With that level of anticipation, we can only hope it's all he
expects it to be!
