After a lovely
break, the whole treadmill of our hectic life is just beginning
again. The children are ready to return to normal - in fact,
they're climbing the walls - none more so than Harry. He's
been on full speed since a week before Christmas and we have
concluded that "SHH" (which we've been saying
constantly) is an abbreviation for "Super Hyper Harry".
Having already had two ADHD children in Kyle and Colby, I have
fears that this is the case with him, although he is good at
school, something my other children could not manage with the
illness, so time will tell!
I have made my new year's resolutions and this year I have, for
the first time, thought about them seriously. I realise last year
was an absolute whirlwind of work, school runs, homework,
housework, refereeing and worry, and have decided to try and take
control of my life a bit more. Okay so I know I can't control
certain situations the children bring, but I can try to put my life
into perspective. I have decided to do what I have been told to do
for more than two decades and start writing a book. While I
don't dislike my job, I noticed I was daydreaming for a lot of
last year and in my head, I'm always writing - so it only makes
sense to give it a go! I have to finish my NVQ but my heart is not
in it and to be truthful, it never was. Still, I'm sure that
once I start, it will be finished sooner than I think, so I'll
have to keep you posted on my progress!
Pete is to start a new health kick. For once he has chosen to give
it a go, perhaps gently prodded into action by getting bicycle
lights for Christmas from Kelvin and a pedometer from me.
Nonetheless, he seems serious about trying to lose at least two
stone, as he's well aware that all the men in his family have
died young from heart disease. Hopefully, he can attain his goal!
We woke up this morning with all these good intentions and a
positive vibe in the air, only to have the TV in the living room
blow up! Just what we needed, but, after getting a little wound up,
I decided to see the lighter side. The next time someone hearing
how many children I have, asks sarcastically whether I have a TV,
instead of getting embarrassed, I can answer, "No, I
don't." That should shut them up!
Callum is now up in the attic on Kelvin's computer doing some
'forgotten' homework, Colby is being quiet in her room,
Harry and Mackenna have finally gone quiet upstairs, (though
I'm not sure that that is a good sign), and Pete's just
walked in to say my car won't start and it's not the
battery! Not quite sure how I'm going to get to work
tomorrow... but chin up, it's New Year and hopefully, it'll
be a good one!
