We've arrived back from
our Disneyland Paris break. While it was lovely, it sure wasn't
restful! We left on Tuesday evening at 10pm, arrived at Dover by
4.30am and were able to make the early ferry crossing that meant we
were picking up our park passes at 10.30am! Poor Pete had no sleep
and was kept on his toes with the children excitedly running off in
all directions. Needless to say that, after hours of rides, we were
dead on our feet by 4pm!
Aiming for an early night to get a head start for the following
day, I hadn't allowed for Pete being struck down with a heavy
cold! It was like sleeping next to Darth Vader all night! Oh how I
envied the kids' energy levels the next day as we struggled
through. Thankfully the children were oblivious to our state and
really enjoyed the whole experience. By the time we arrived home on
Saturday evening, having stayed in a Travelodge close to Dover,
Pete looked like he'd had a fight rather than a holiday! His
bloodshot eyeballs looked like ordnance survey maps.
So thank heavens for a boring Sunday spent unpacking suitcases and
wading through washing and ironing. The house seemed in order and
nothing was broken that I could see. Yet I was still a little
suspicious of Colby who said she'd had a couple of friends stay
over. When she smugly pointed out that the house was tidy, alarm
bells went off in my head. I've checked the pond for fag ends
and bottle tops, but there was nothing. A brief look through the
rubbish revealed nothing untoward - so I guess I have to believe
that my teenage daughter either handled our absence remarkably
well, or she has covered her tracks really well! Only time will
tell...
