I awoke this
morning with renewed vigour, and decided that this would be a good
week. I had a particularly hectic day at work and looked forward to
getting it over with. But no sooner had I stepped into the car than
I heard a dragging sound, rather like I had run over an old metal
dustbin. As I hadn't made it out of the car park, I stopped to
investigate. The entire back bumper was just hanging down and as I
walked up to it, the whole thing crashed to the ground. I could not
believe it. I tried to pick it up to put it in my car, but it
wouldn't fit, then my friend offered to get it in her people
carrier, but we couldn't get the doors to close! For goodness
sake, it was like an episode of Laurel and Hardy with my friend and
I staggering all over the car park, looking for a place to hide it
so it wouldn't get nicked before Pete could pick it up later in
his truck.
Having got through this delay, I had to now had only 30 minutes to
speed round the supermarket getting the food shop done before
haring it down to the school to pick up the kids. Optimistically, I
tried to put the glitch behind me and head home, convinced one
little blip wouldn't spoil my good week prophesy. My optimism
was short-lived! As soon as I got on the A1, I hit non-moving
traffic; it had shut due to an accident ten minutes earlier. All
positivity slowly evaporated as I sat in the non-moving lane for an
hour and a half, enduring all the beeps and people gesticulating
and mouthing the words "Did you know you've lost your back
bumper?" I'm beginning to think it's not the Chinese
rug, it's me. I am forever jinxed. I can't wait to see what
disasters tomorrow brings...
