Last week
whizzed by and I can't believe we are off to Euro Disney on
Tuesday night. Even though I've only been back at work a week
since half term, by Friday, I was frazzled. This was partly due to
an incident that happened in the morning. I was set the task of
sitting with a group of children, helping them to papier- mache
over balloons. Blowing the balloons up was a feat in itself, and I
took a while to get over the dizziness, having blown up six in a
row. Once composed, I began to show the children how to cover the
balloon using the strips of newspaper, which were covered in
watered-down PVA glue. All was well for five minutes, until one
child decided to squeeze his balloon a little too hard. There was a
loud bang, which stopped the rest of the class in its tracks,
followed by gasps! I was covered in glue, newspaper and bits of
balloon. My face felt like it had a face pack on that was beginning
to dry. My teacher couldn't stop giggling and I had to say I
saw the funny side, even while she was pulling bits of balloon out
of my hair! I spent the rest of the day shedding my second skin and
trying to stretch my face back. I couldn't wait to get home and
wash it all off.
Pete has been poorly over the weekend and had to take himself to
bed, which is not like him at all. He was hot and cold, with an
upset stomach and today he's been complaining of tooth-ache. I
hope none of us catch it for next week, as I have visions of me
spending three days holed up in the cabin alone, with the children,
returning back in the evening, full of the wonderful things
they've done that day at Disney.
Colby has decided to take the days we're away off work, which
is unnerving me a little. I have laid the law down about no parties
in any shape or form and she has assured me she just wants the time
off to sleep... and I'm the Queen of Sheba! However, Kelvin
returns back from London on Wednesday and will stay here with
Cooper until we get home on the Saturday evening; so he can police
the situation for us!
Madison has two interviews next week, one tomorrow and one on
Friday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she gets one of
the jobs. It's been a long haul and it will be two years in
July since she's had no luck with jobs - so it really must be
her turn now.
I am now going to try and locate the converter plug and start
rummaging through the medicine cupboard in search of any relevant
medicines we will need while away!
