CANDIS CLUB SUPPORTS MARIE CURIE
Candis Club has
been supporting Marie Curie for 11 years and has so far donated
over £5 million to the charity. This year, it will receive a
further £250,000, which will be used to assist with the
charity's aims for 2010. Tom Hughes-Hallett, chief executive at
Marie Curie said, "The support Candis and its readers has
given Marie Curie to date has been absolutely tremendous. It has
enabled us to provide more free nursing care to terminally ill
patients in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by their
loved ones. In particular, money donated by Candis Club in 2010
will help bring Marie Curie a step closer to achieving our goal of
doubling the number of patients we care for, and in reducing the
number of cancer deaths in hospitals. We look forward to another
successful year of working together."

Money received from Candis Club has helps Marie Curie...
- fund nursing for the terminally-ill across the UK, allowing them the choice of dying at home
- continue vital investigations into the transcription of genes at the Candis laboratory at the Marie Curie Research Institute
- build a new hospice in Bradford and establish a new palliative care institute in Liverpool
- keep its nurses safe and warm by providing fleeces and creating the Communicare service, which logs nurses' whereabouts
- support Marie Curie hospices, which actively promote quality of life for people with cancer and provide support for their families, completely free of charge
- fund bereavement support for patients' loved ones at Marie Curie hospices
- fund a project to provide Marie Curie's expert hospice services at local hospitals in Northern Ireland
Marie Curie Cancer Care will receive £250,000 from Candis Club in 2010 to help support cancer patients and their families in the UK.
