Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

What they do:

JDRFAim to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

Candis Big Give project:

There are ten different risk genes connected with the development of Type 1 diabetes. If a person has one or more present in their body, they are at greater risk of developing the disease. The money raised will fund staff who will test samples from 5,000 people to see if they have genes that could lead to Type 1 diabetes. They will then investigate why the immune system in people with these genes recognises insulin as a foreign body and attacks it, causing the disease.

Project location:

National.

Total raised:

£58,021
