If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
Just be yourself. When I was a teenager I saw a film of me being interviewed. There I was a Scottish girl talking in a very middle-class English accent. I felt a little sad for the girl in the film, but it was me.
What do you owe your parents?
Everything. I got my voice from my father and my mother was the one who encouraged me to pursue singing. And if I have any common sense it's from my parents.
