Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher interview

Demi Moore may be 15 years older than Ashton Kutcher, but they reveal to Gabrielle Donnelly why meeting the right person is key to success
in the marriage stakes

February 2010You would never have put them together, as couples go. But six years after they met, Demi Moore, 47, and Ashton Kutcher, 32 this month have quietly and without a PR show, become the poster couple for the ideal Hollywood family.

Demetria Gene Guynes, born in Roswell, New Mexico, survived a troubled childhood - her father left her mother before she was born, her mother was an alcoholic, the family moved 40 times because of her step-father's work. Yet despite or perhaps in spite of all this she went on to become the star of films like Ghost and G.I. Jane. At one time, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood. She married Bruce Willis, with whom she had three daughters, Rumer, now 21, Scout, 18, and Tallulah, who will turn 16 this month. Always a tempestuous couple, she and Bruce separated after 13 years and divorced in 2000, although they remain firm friends and devoted parents. Meanwhile she has admitted that she wondered whether she would ever find love again - as she has since joked of that time, "I didn't just come with luggage - I had trunks!"

Enter - by way of a dinner party thrown by mutual friends in 2003 - a tall, dark, and handsome young actor called Ashton Kutcher. Ashton is a familiar type around Hollywood - a handsome kid from a small town, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who has parlayed his good looks, first into a modelling career (a Calvin Klein ad and a TV commercial for Pizza Hut), and then into acting.

He first became known in the US playing a handsome but dim-witted young man in the popular TV sitcom That '70s Show, had a few roles in movies like Dude, Where's My Car? and What Happens in Vegas, and in 2003 became famous as the producer and star of Punk'd, a TV show involving hidden cameras and practical jokes played on celebrities.
