Dancer Anton Du Beke, 45, will this year star in his ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing. He splits his time between London and Kent where he lives with his girlfriend, Amanda
The best thing my parents taught me was...
You only get out of life what you put in. It's
something I've thrived on and to which I attribute my
success.
My most vivid memories from
childhood are...
Epic car journeys across the continent. As my
mother was Spanish and my father Hungarian, each summer we'd
drive across both countries. It was a lot of travelling for a
child, but I have wonderful memories of that time. It was a great
adventure - the languages and colours were amazing.
My most memorable dance partner was...
Bruce Forsyth - a true legend. We did a version of
Me And My Shadow on Strictly one year - he's still a fantastic
dancer. Oh, and I have to say Ann Widdecombe who was lovely and a
great sport.
I was star struck when...
I met Fred Astaire's daughter, Ava, a few years
ago. I've always admired Fred and it was a truly wonderful
experience to chat with her about her late father.
Not a lot of people know this but I'm quite good
at...
Baking. By trade I used to be a very good baker, so
I would have to stick with that.
The best thing about working on Strictly is...
Meeting my new partner and beginning work with
them.
And the worst is...
Being voted off! No one enjoys that. It took me
five years before I won something through the show - The Golden
Pudsey Award for Children In Need with my partner Tess Daly. I was
delighted!
My teen idols were ...
Charlie's Angels from the 70s, especially Kate
Jackson who was
just gorgeous.
I'm at my best when...
I'm wearing my tails and am ready to dance. It
makes me feel really good about myself.
My guiltiest pleasure is...
Getting up early and finding a quiet cafe where I
can sit, read the paper, have a lovely breakfast with coffee and
watch the world go by.
