Q Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a four-bedroom cottage on the Isle of Wight - me, my sister (who is eight years older than I am) and my mum and dad. Dad was initially in the Marines, then he ran a wine business and then at the end of his life he went on to become a politician.
Q How did your childhood influence you?
I remember my dad was always very focused on family. It was far
more important to him, for example, to be at my under-eights
football matches (even if I was only on the sidelines) than
constantly working and never engaging with us. I learned the same
values from him, and family is really important to me. Some people
put money and careers first and mess up their personal lives and I
don't want that to happen to me.
