Candis Big Give
The Candis Big Give is a fundraising initiative involving charities and their supporters.
The 55 charities that took part in this year’s Candis Big Give are getting well underway with the projects they raised money for.
Having raised a total of £1.7m, the money is set to benefit people right across the UK and have lasting effects.
As ever we’ll be keeping you updated with how the charities are getting on. In fact in this month’s issue of Candis you can read about how the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is using the money raised to fund vital research into Type 1 diabetes, and how the National Osteoporosis Society is funding a nurse to work on its helpline.
The great news is that simply by subscribing to Candis, you’re automatically supporting all of the fantastic projects (see How your money helps, below).
Don’t forget, throughout 2012 we will bring you heartwarming stories of those benefiting from your support, so you can see exactly how each charity is getting on with its project.
This month, find out how Theodora Children’s Trust is using the money it raised to fund the visits of eight new Giggle Doctors, who are bringing laughter to poorly children in hospital. Read the full story here.
Note: The amount raised through the Candis Big Give 2011-12, excluding Gift Aid, was £1,531,445.
How your money helps: In 2012 Candis Club will donate a minimum of £250,000 from members' magazine subscription revenue, via Gift Aid, to The Charities Aid Foundation. £250,000 has been passed to health charities taking part in The Candis Big Give. Any remaining monies will go to charities at the discretion of the General Committee of Candis Club.
We never forget that it is your subscriptions to Candis that have enabled Candis Club to give such huge amounts to charities over the years. Since 1962, the total raised is £54,006,389. Click here to learn more about the Candis story.
