While many of us will be making New Year's resolutions to lose weight, learn a new skill or spend more time with family, some will use this time to transform their lives. We met three readers who are about to make big changes and gave them a new look to take bold steps into the future.

I'll be reclaiming my life!

Tracy Davies, 45, lives in Warrington with her husband, Paul, 39, and her two children, Hanna, 20, and Adam, 16, who both have autism. This year she hopes she'll be able to find some time for herself.

What I've learnt: "My hair is naturally curly and can be unruly, but Liz has shown me how I can easily style it to look sleek; something I will definitely do from now on."

How I feel: "Fabulous! I thought my glamorous days were over but today has made me realise they are just beginning."

The one thing I'd buy: "Definitely the body-shaping underwear. It's made me feel like a million dollars!"

I'm retraining in my 50s!

I'll be looking for love

Emma Wootton, 32, lives in Hailsham, East Sussex, and has one son, Nicholas, 5. Recently divorced, in 2010, she'll be giving her career, love life and lifestyle an overhaul

What I've learnt: "I'd never have thought to wear a belt, or that I could show my arms - I thought both would make me look bigger - but they've given me curves."

How I feel: I feel sexy for the first time in ages and can't wait for everyone to see my new look. It's given me the boost I needed!"

The one thing I'd buy: "The dress - I absolutely love the colour and how shapely it makes me look."
