Join sections
Holding RS of first section against RS of second section, cast off both sets of sts at same time,
taking one st from one section with corresponding st of other section.
MAKING UP
Press as described on the information page.
Button border
With RS facing and using 23⁄4mm (US 2) circular needle, pick up and knit 498 [518: 546: 570] sts evenly along one entire row-end edge, beg and ending at cast-on edges.
Row 1 (WS): P2, *K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Row 2: K2, *P2, K2, rep from * to end.
These 2 rows form rib.
Work in rib for a further 6 rows, ending with WS facing for next row.
Cast off in rib (on WS).
Buttonhole border
Work as given for button border, picking up sts along other row-end edge and with the addition of 10 buttonholes worked in row 4 as folls:
Row 4 (RS): Rib 4, *work 2 tog, yrn (to make a buttonhole), rib 12 [13: 14: 15], rep from * 3 times more, work 2 tog, yrn (to make 5th buttonhole), rib to last 62 [66: 70: 74] sts, ***yrn, work 2 tog, rib 12 [13: 14: 15], rep from *** 3 times more, yrn (to make 10th buttonhole), work 2 tog, rib 4.
