Using weekends to improve family life will be easy in 2010, according to one newspaper, which stated that there are enough activities to keep people busy through all 52 in the coming year.
The Sunday Times listed its 50-plus events, which included open fires in Yorkshire and detox breaks in Wiltshire.
Reporting on the open fire near the George Inn in Hubberholme, it stated: "It's the bleak midwinter, and what you need is a long walk through a frost-blanketed area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with, crucially, a blazing log fire and a pint of real ale to look forward to at the end of the day."
Other excursions for families included the Naturetrek in Hampshire, which gives people the chance to see birds like brent geese, little egrets, peregrines, grebes and divers.
Nadejda Popova, travel and tourism industry analyst at Euromonitor International, recently said that more people are choosing to take camping breaks as they attempt to include holidays in family life without paying too much for them.
