People who incorporate pomegranate juice into their health family recipes could be helping their brood avoid breast cancer in later life, according to one expert.
Dr Caitlin Palframan, policy manager at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said that more research needs to be done into the effects of pomegranate juice on the human body before it can be confirmed as a positive oncology tool.
"Although this study is interesting, long-term research will be needed in humans to understand whether pomegranate juice could help reduce breast cancer risk," according to the expert.
However, Dr Palframan added that scientists do know that you can reduce your risk of breast cancer by maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol consumption and exercising regularly.
Statistics from the Breakthrough Breast Cancer recently showed that almost 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, with more than 1,000 women dying of the disease every month.
