People thinking about investing in energy-efficient changes to improve their family life should be given more support by the government, according to one expert.
Thomas Lingard, deputy director of the Green Alliance, said that what the country needs is a firm policy from number ten, which promotes making eco-friendly changes to properties.
"What we really need is a hard commitment from [the] government to bring in policies which will make these kinds of retrofits more attractive and desirable to people around the country," he stated.
The expert added that any scheme which is introduced by the authorities needs to be well thought out and encourages people to improve the country's current housing stock.
In other news, the government recently released the UK Low Carbon Transition Plan, which plots out how the UK will meet the cut in emissions set out in the budget of 34 per cent on 1990 levels by 2020.

"So agree. We're thinking of installing solar panels and replacing our boiler but are put off by the cost. Supportive government initiatives would be very welcome."
