People interested in creating healthy family recipes should make sure that they avoid putting too many ingredients containing saturated fats into meals, according to one expert, because it can increase blood cholesterol.
June Davison, cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, said that if there is too much cholesterol in a person's blood they increase the risk of having a heart attack or developing angina.
"One of the main risks of eating too much saturated fat is that it can increase your blood cholesterol. A rise in your blood cholesterol can increase the risk of fatty deposits developing on the coronary arteries," she stated.
The expert added that avoiding one or two ingredients will not make too much difference and advised people to watch their overall diet and monitor the amount of saturated fat they consume.
In other news, the British Heart Foundation advised people to help their hearts stay healthy by cutting back on the total amount of fat they eat and replace saturated fats with monounsaturated and polysunsaturated fats.
