People who want to give their brood some parental advice could be bolstered by the news that the jobs market is beginning to improve and fewer people are claiming benefits, according to one expert.
Thomas Usher, research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, said that for months there have been positive signs in the market that a recovery would happen and it has been backed by recent predictions.
"Whatever happens, the recovery is going to be slow and halting. We know that employers have a lot of spare manpower on their hands to deal with any increase in production," he said.
The expert added that the market has been changed by the trend for people to work part-time rather than full-time as the economy recovers.
In other news, the Office for National Statics said on January 20th that the number of unemployed people fell by 7,000 in the three months from September to November 2009.
