People trying to improve their family life need firm financial commitments from the government, according to one expert, who said that is the only way the UK will help out the most disadvantaged families.
Rhian Beynon, head of policy and campaigns at Family Action, said that at the moment the government is moving in the right direction but has not actually revealed the investment it is willing to pledge to support parents and children.
"What we need is some clarity on the level of funding that there is going to be for services, particularly services that support disadvantaged families," she stated.
The expert said that families which have problems need more early interventions from the government in order to nip any issues in the bud.
Ms Beynon's comments follow a report from the Department for Children, Schools and Families, which promised 88 new Family Intervention Projects (FIPs) across the UK and £2.6 million of funding for local authorities to start or expand FIPs in their region.
