Too many people think that they will find it difficult to switch banks, but according to one expert, the process is simple and should not be too daunting.
James Daley, money editor at Which?, said that at the moment people are not satisfied with their banking options and often say they are disappointed even with big name financial groups.
"We've had people getting ripped off with charges, we've had people seeing their savings put at risk as banks have come close to collapse and taxpayers are having to bail them out," he said.
The expert added that he is disappointed that more people are not willing to switch when they are upset at the treatment they have received from their bank and said it is simpler than most people realise.
Jason Falls, a social media consultant and blogger on SocialMediaExplorer.com, recently said that the world of marketing has lost touch with what consumers want.
