Consumer advice: Internet Explorer 8 is most popular browser

People looking for consumer advice could join millions of web users and opt for the latest Windows browser, which is the current market leader.

Cliff Saran, managing editor of Computer Weekly magazine, said that Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) has helped the firm to fight back against competitors such as Firefox, which have taken a significant percentage of the market from Bill Gate's company.

"IE8 is the latest version of the Microsoft browser – it ships with Windows 7 and Windows users get it through Microsoft's automated Windows update service, so it doesn't surprise me that it is popular," he stated.

The expert added that Google's Chrome browser is another option for people interested consumer advice.

In other news, the Advertising Standards Authority has today ruled against an Olay advert containing a heavily airbrushed image of the model Twiggy on the grounds that it was misleading.
