Super-fast broadband could change family life

Super-fast broadband could change family life

The advent of 100 megabit per second broadband could be upon the UK if the Conservatives if they get into power and, according to one expert, it could have a big impact on UK business and family life.

Nigel Hawthorn, vice president of Europe, Middle East and African (EMEA) marketing for Blue Coat Systems, said that if the super-fast service is put in place, TV as we know it could cease to exist.

"All sectors can benefit from this level of bandwidth. Businesses can benefit from easier communication and users benefit from new services so far not even available," he said.

The expert added that, at present, many people do not understand how additional bandwidth works and fail to comprehend that it does not shorten the distance information travels.

In other news, the Conservatives have announced major plans for the nation's broadband network that will bring the UK up to the standards of the world's leading countries, according to the party.
