Mobile internet is 'becoming an important part of family life'

Access to mobile internet is becoming more important, according to one expert, who said that its purpose is evolving all the time.

Natasha Stokes, editor of Mobile Choice, said that the use of mobile internet is changing from its initial place as mainly a social networking access solution.

"Mobile internet became mainstream largely because people wanted to access their social networks on the go and also needed to search for information such as addresses while out," he stated.

The expert predicted that he thinks the sector will expand, as mobile internet becomes more accessible, faster and available on a wider range of handsets.

He predicted it will eventually include banking and media such as TV and YouTube.

In other news, the Global System for Mobile communications Association recently stated that during December last year 16 million people in the UK accessed the internet from their mobile phones.
