Sleep is a crucial part of family health

People who want to improve their family health need to ensure they get the right amount of sleep, according to one expert, who said when they get it is not that important.

Jessica Alexander, spokesperson for The Sleep Council, said that there are many arguments for when and how people should sleep, but she believes modern culture means people have to get by with less kip.

"Sleep is important for performance for mood and for health - physical health. By short-changing on it you are going to make life tougher," she stated.

The expert added that having a nap in the day could help people's memory, especially if they have had a poor night's sleep.

New research from the University of California, Berkeley, shows that an hour's nap can dramatically boost and restore your brain power, as well as make people smarter.

More about family health.
