Even though the recession has ended plenty of people are having a tough time, according to research, which showed that many families want more help from the government.
Adfero, the online news agency, spoke to various people in Leeds and found that some are having a hard family life even though the country is technically out of recession.
"Nothing has changed for me really. Lots of folk are finding it tough at the moment, and you're lucky to find work. Now, it seems there is only agency work going at the moment," said Mark Roberts, who is unemployed.
Carrianne Richards, who is a housewife from Leeds, added the government need to do more to help families find work.
According to the Asda Income Tracker, the arrival of 2010 has not resulted in an improvement in family finances, with the average UK household having £164 worth of discretionary income available to them.
