People thinking about their family health need to ensure that they address any mental illness concerns they may have, according to one expert.
Lucie Russell, director of campaigns at YoungMinds, said that having good mental health is very important for most people, but yet people are reluctant to talk about it.
"As the report shows six in ten of us have faced mental problems but we are still ashamed to admit we are finding it hard to cope or are unhappy," she stated.
The expert added that mental health is as important as physical health and healthcare professionals need to get this message across to young people and adults alike.
Ms Russell also thinks that talking about mental illness with youngsters in the UK could help to ensure the country is healthy in the future.
Mental health charity Together recently stated that stress, anxiety and depression are the three most common difficulties encountered by the British public.
