Parents planning out their travel options for this year need to ensure that they set a budget and stick to it, according to an expert, who said this is the best way to be frugal but have fun while on a break.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert from travelsupermarket.com, said that as long as people set a final budget and do not divert from that they should be able to have a good time without worrying about financial issues.
"Decide what your total budget is and then consider both self catering and all inclusive options. The key thing for anyone who is worried is to set a budget and to stick to it. If you can't afford what you want for what you've got then something has to give," he said.
Santander Cards recently found that parents planning to treat their kids to a family holiday over the school summer holidays face paying staggering premiums of as much as 85 per cent for some resorts.
