Family life: Second-hand baby gear could be perfect for mums
People trying to save money in their family life should consider trying to secure second-hand baby equipment and accessories, according to an expert, who said that childcare can become a huge expense.
Carrie Longton, co-founder of Mumsnet, stated that the advent of eBay and recycling sites has helped people to get rid of their baby gear and give new parents the chance to save money.
"The thing about baby stuff is that it's quite cumbersome, people are actually desperate to get rid of it so you could probably get some stuff quite cheaply," she said.
Ms Longton added that the number one priority for new parents should be childcare and she believes it is worth spending more money on this to ensure quality.
The recent Aviva Cost of the Sibling study found that two children is the most common family size in the UK at present.
