Some people looking for consumer advice still struggle with new smartphone technology, like Blackberries and iPhones, according to one expert, who said that older generations can struggle with the technology.
Jon Bentley, host of The Gadget Show, and Richard Stewart, a technology guru for O2, said that a lot of youngsters grew up with computers and are used to the way they work, whereas older consumers can still be perplexed by them.
"Wi-Fi smartphones like the iPhone or Blackberry, as well as social networking, are still alien to some people. These things are still technically in their infancy and becoming easier to use," Mr Stewart stated.
The expert added that mature consumers are not too concerned with having the latest technology and will only opt for it if they need it.
One in five people surveyed by O2 revealed they have never used Wi-Fi, over a quarter have never used a smartphone like the iPhone, while almost a fifth have never used a social networking site like Facebook.
