Parental advice: Holidaymakers 'should plan ahead'
Families looking to organise a trip away this year have been offered some parental advice on travelling on a budget by one comparison website.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at Travelsupermarket.com, has advised families on a budget to make a list of their costs – based on their accommodation type and likely activities – in order to estimate their outgoings.
He went on to recommend using the information and tools available to gauge how much things will cost in different destinations.
Mr Atkinson added: "The best thing to do is to check with review sites as to what are expensive destinations in Spain, what are cheap destinations, how far does your pound go, that kind of thing."
The expert also suggested investing in some guidebooks and checking website reviews, as these may give an insight to the destination.
Meanwhile, according to recent research from TravelSpec, 94 per cent of British holidaymakers will go at least £500 over budget on their summer holiday this year.
