Novelist,
broadcaster and former Conservative MP, Edwina Currie, argues that
a great night out doesn't have to involve getting absolutely
legless.
I'm no prude or spoilsport. But my ire is rising at people who
try to bully me into having a drink, as if I'm going to spoil
their pleasure if I don't get as plastered as they do. This
especially came to a head recently when I took part in Celebrity
Come Dine With Me.
That's the TV show where several well-known names meet up in
each other's homes for a dinner party; one person is the chef
and the rest vote secretly on how he or she has performed, with the
winner collecting £1,000 for charity. It's a witty and
eye-opening programme, showing not just cooking skills but also an
insight into the lives of famous individuals.
