It’s that time again – mince pies, mulled wine and lots of scurrying round to make Christmas time extra special for the little ones in your life. With this in mind, we’ve made a list (and checked it twice!) of the best places to see Santa and his elves this year.

Santa’s Grotto at Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park

Meet Father Christmas at London’s most famous festive market. Located in the Santa Land area, the littles ones will love meeting Mr and Mrs Claus and their elves in the bustling atmosphere of this humongous winter spectacle. Afterwards stop for a hot chocolate and a ride on the Ferris wheel. 18 November to 2 January 2017

Christmas at Cardiff Castle, Cardiff

In the Black Tower, the oldest part of Cardiff Castle, Santa is ready and waiting to hand out presents to all the good boys and girls. For £10.95 per child, including two accompanying adults, you’ll follow the Christmas Trail inside the Victorian-themed Christmas house, design your own card and meet the big guy himself. Sessions with Santa are selling out fast so book now to avoid disappointment. 26 November to 23 December

Antarctic Grotto at National Sea Life Centre, Birmingham

Don’t miss the chance to see Santa in his Antarctic Grotto with his waddle of Gentoo Penguins in this unique setting of the Ice Adventure area. There’s an underwater Christmas tree in the 360 Ocean and each child will receive a very special gift from Santa. Merry Fish-mas! Tickets to the Sea Life Centre start from £12.75 Throughout December

Santa’s Snow Grotto at The Chill Factore, Manchester

For a white Christmas, head to the Chill Factore and feel the crunch of real snow beneath your feet before visiting Santa in his grotto. There’ll be sparkling trees, glistening lights and lots of festive music to enjoy, and after you’ve met Santa and his chattering elves children will get 30 minutes of chilly fun in the Snow Park. Tickets start from £17 for a family of two and children under the age of four go in free! 5 November to 24 December

Christmas at Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park, Hampshire

See Peppa’s world transformed into a Chrismassy wonderland with giant Christmas trees, festive music and Santa with his reindeer models. Of course, Peppa and George will be there to say hello, all wrapped up in their hats and scarves! At the grotto you’ll meet Rudolph and go with him on his journey to find Santa in time for Chistmas Eve. There’s also a 4D Christmas Film screening and a festive menu at the Wild Forest restaurant. 19 November to 23 December

Lapland at Ascot Race Course,  Berkshire

If you can afford to splash out, then his magical three-and-a-half-hour Christmas experience is not to be missed. For a hefty price (tickets start from £49.50) children can help the elves in Santa’s toy factory, decorate gingerbread men in Mother Christmas’s kitchen, meet the reindeer and husky dogs and much more. Once you’ve booked your ticket you’ll be asked to fill out a simple form with details of your child so ‘Father Christmas’ can send out a personalised invitation for your little one to open. 19 November to 24 December
