Add sparkle to your table
Use a ready-made wreath and decorate with pine cones and white artificial flowers. It makes a stunning centrepiece for any festive table
This beautiful and very easy-to-make festive centrepiece is a great project that the whole family can enjoy getting involved with. Why not gather the children together for a day of pine cone hunting and let them assist you when assembling? And on page 75 we have some lovely kitsch hanging decorations for you to try your hand at. They’ll look great hung on branches of the Christmas tree, or why not give them as a gift to a loved one?
You will need:
❅ 1 white artificial hydrangea flower head
❅ Medium and small natural pine cones (approximately 10 medium cones and enough small cones to fit around the base of the wreath)
❅ Silver spray paint ❅ Ready-made silver or white door wreath
❅ Hot glue gun (or very strong all-purpose glue)
❅ 3 pillar candles
How to make:
1 To begin making your centrepiece, using scissors carefully cut out four or five small hydrangea flowers from the artificial bloom – these will be stuck on later.
2 Spray the pine cones with the silver paint. It is advisable to do this outside wearing a mask to protect yourself from the fumes. Turn the pine cones over to ensure all parts are covered with the silver paint. You’ll need to apply a few coats.
3 Glue the smaller silver pine cones close together to the base of the wreath – you may find it easier to use a hot glue gun for this if you have one because it will speed up the process.
4 Glue four or five hydrangea flowers to the top of the wreath, making sure they are evenly spaced. Glue the larger silver pine cones between the hydrangea flowers on top of the wreath. Fill the space inside the wreath with large pillar candles to finish.
