Cannabis shrinks cancer

507543871Scientists at the University of East Anglia say that the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis has anti-cancer properties. The team used samples of human breast cancer cells to induce tumours in mice. They then targeted the tumours with doses of the cannabis compound THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), and found that the tumours shrunk in response to it. The hope is to one day create a safe synthetic version of cannabis for this use.
