Are you CO savvy?

Close-up of carbon monoxide alarmEvery year around 40 people die in the UK due to carbon monoxide poisoning – often referred to as the silent killer. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless and tasteless poisonous gas that is produced when fuel does not burn properly and it leaks from boilers, gas appliances or flues that have not been properly installed or maintained. Despite attempts to raise awareness of the dangers in the press and soaps including Coronation Street very few people still know about the dangers and how to stay safe.

That’s why the Building & Engineering Services Association has produced a free booklet, CO Helpline Safety Guide Booklet. This eight-page safety guide includes everything you need to know, from the basics of where it comes from to what you should do if you suspect a leak. So don’t take any chances – keep your family CO safe.
