Congratulations MS Society!

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the spring £10,000 Candis Charity Challenge.

The votes are now in and counted and we are delighted to announce Multiple Sclerosis Society as the winner and recipient of the £10,000 prize.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Candis Charity Challenge and really appreciate the opportunity to take part in the Challenge, as well as all the votes from our supporters and Candis readers,” says Michelle Mitchell, Chief Executive of the MS Society. “Thank you so much from everyone here at the MS Society and, of course, all the carers that the funds will support throughout the year.”

The £10,000 donation will help Multiple Sclerosis Society to improve the lives of adult carers, by covering all grants over the next year. These grants help to lessen the huge financial impact of caring for someone with MS and allow carers access to vocational courses and recreational opportunities to reduce isolation and offer them a break from their caring roles.

In addition Candis Club has decided to make a special £1,000 donation to Scope in recognition of the votes cast by their supporters and the important work the charity does.

When my sister was diagnosed with MS. she was 29 and died when she was 34 and her little boy was 5. If my sister was alive today she would be 63. There was not so much knowledge about the illness at the time. She was in the Hospital in the Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for a year. Over the years this has improved no end. But there still seems a long way to go.
