Five amazing DIY beauty remedies

Try these five easy-to-follow DIY beauty remedies whenever you feel like a pamper night. You’ll find all the ingredients in your kitchen and they work just as well as any expensive shop-bought products!

1 Tame frizzy hair with this banana and avocado hair mask:

Mash together a banana and ½ an avocado and comb the mixture through dry hair (dry hair absorbs more nutrients than wet). Once the mask is on, cover your hair with a shower cap and leave to penetrate the hair for ten minutes. Rinse off with cool water and you’ll be left with smooth, frizz-free locks!

2 Get your feet ready for summer with this sugar foot scrub:

Mix 1 cup brown sugar, ¼ cup coconut or olive oil, ½ cup of honey and a few drops of peppermint essential oil until you’re left with a sandy-brown paste. Once it’s mixed, simply rub it into your feet – the longer you do this the better – and then rinse off with warm water.

3 Prep your lips with this oh-so-simple lip exfoliator:

Mix together 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tbsp honey in a bowl. Dab your finger in the mix and apply all over the lips to remove any dry skin, before wiping off. Repeat this routine twice a week – your lipstick will stay on much longer and your lips will feel luscious.

4 Treat your face to this sweet-smelling anti-ageing facemask – it’s good enough to eat!

Mix 2 tbsp cocoa powder with 1 tbsp honey and 1 ½ tbsp melted coconut oil until a paste forms – you can add more honey or cocoa if you want a different consistency. Apply to your skin in a circular massaging motion and leave to soak for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water – your skin will feel firmer and you’ll smell divine.

5 Coffee is the main ingredient in this cellulite-combating body scrub – it stimulates blood flow to minimise dimples and the smell is sensational!

Melt ½ cup of coconut oil and mix it with 1 cup of ground coffee and ¼ cup of brown sugar until you get a thick scrub-like texture. Massage liberal amounts onto your problem areas in a circular motion and then rinse with warm water. This scrub is best preserved in an air-tight jar stored in a cool, dark place.
