Get set for Crufts!
This week sees the return of Crufts – the world’s largest dog show – with all the waggy-tail action broadcast from the NEC Birmingham on 6-9 March. Clueless about the canine celebration? Here’s what to expect:
Crufts isn’t just about canines showing off. It also rewards the nation’s most heroic hounds in the prestigious Friends for Life competition, with heart-warming stories of dogs who have truly earned the title of ‘man’s best friend’. Five dogs are shortlisted for outstanding bravery or devotion to their owners, and the public decides the winner. Take a sneak peek at the finalists and find out how to vote here
Ladies and tramps
Of course all eyes will be on the world-famous Best in Show event, where pampered pedigrees strut their stuff for crowning glory. But crossbreeds are also given their chance to shine in the aptly named Scruffts competition.
Ordinary dogs with extraordinary talent will battle it out in the Crufts Factor 2014. In the run up to the event, Crufts’ organiser, The Kennel Club, has been searching for dog stars who can impress the crowds with jumps, tricks and dazzling routines. The finalists will show off their skills at the main event, but who will have the Crufts Factor?
Those attending the show can meet more than 200 breeds in the Discover Dogs area and find out everything they need to know about buying a dog, from the knowledgeable owners and breeders on hand, with advice on grooming, training and finding the right breed for you.
- Watch Crufts on More4 on 6-8 March and Channel 4 on 9 March, featuring the Best in Show finale.
