Goodbye reading glasses?

Candis health editor, Karen Evennett shares the latest health update…

Most of us need reading glasses by the time we hit our mid-40s – but for how much longer? A thin ring is in development that, inserted into the eye, could soon offer a specs-free remedy for the blurry reading that most of us experience past a certain age. The corneal inlay device, currently undergoing clinical review in the United States, improved near vision well enough for 80 per cent of the participating patients to read a newspaper. As a bonus, inlays can be removed, so, unlike laser eye surgery, this will be a reversible treatment.
