Hat’s a great idea!
Calling all knitters – homelessness charity St Mungo’s needs YOU!
The charity is appealing to all knatty knitters out there to get those needles clicking to help rustle up 2,014 hats this winter as part of its Woolly Hat Day campaign to support homeless people.
Now in its fourth year, one of the most popular ways of supporting Woolly Hat Day is by knitting a hat and donating it to the charity, who then sell the hats to raise money.
Woolly Hat Day takes place on Friday, 31 January 2014, and there are three easy-to-follow knitting patterns to choose from, all available for free from the St Mungo’s website.
The hat designs are by charity partner Funi and knitter Cal Pannone, and include The Orange Bobble, The Chunky and The Ribbed Beanie. Visit http://www.mungos.org/woollyhatday/knitting for the designs and http://www.funiwear.com/collections/st-mungo-s-charity-beanies to buy a hat knit kit.
This year St Mungo’s has a new fundraising target of £50,000 for Woolly Hat Day, which would make a real difference to homeless people, and those at risk of homelessness. There are lots of ways for people to take part.
