Your tendency to put on weight isn’t just due to eating the wrong foods and taking too little exercise – nearly 100 genes are also involved in the process, say researchers from the University of Michigan. They hope their discovery will help to explain why some (but not all) obese people develop conditions such as diabetes or high cholesterol – as well as helping to prevent problems for future generations.
