Making your own eraser stamp

If you’ve made the simple school bag in our September issue then you can personalise it by making your own stamp

Eau-De-NilYou can use flat ready-made rubber stamps – available from shops like Hobbycraft – or buy sheets of rubber that you can carve your own design into to make larger prints. Once you have your design carved out, attach it to a wooden or acrylic block to give it more structure if necessary. Load your stamp with paint using a sponge and print on to fabric by applying even pressure to the back. These blocks will last as long as you look after the rubber, so you can use them again and again. Take great care when carving because the tools are very sharp.
