We all know stress is a risk factor for heart disease, but now it turns out it can also make us more prone to Type 2 diabetes. Scientists from Munich studied 5,300 working people and found those under the most workplace stress were 45% more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than those under less pressure. Roughly one in five employees is affected by ‘high levels of mental stress’ at work – meaning the demands on them are high and that they’re not involved in the decisions that affect their day-to-day working life.
