With the summer heatwave still to kick in, you don’t need to worry, as there’s not an ice bucket in sight! The activity holiday company is simply asking people to walk just one mile each towards the 500-mile target, armed with their camera or smartphone.

Walkers are then asked to record their attempt and share their walk highlights on HF Holiday’s Facebook or on Twitter, mentioning @hfholidays with #Walk500, tag three or more friends to spread the word, and make a donation to The British Heart Foundation via justgiving.com/walk500withhfholidays or text HFHW50 £3 to 70070.

Alongside donations from the public, HF Holidays has also committed to making a donation of £5 for every mile walked up to the 500-mile target!

Whether you use it as an excuse to catch up with friends, walk the dog or explore your local area, it’s a great way to stay fit and have fun while making a difference. You could even go all out with fancy dress or attempt to moonwalk the mile!

Jim Forward, Chief Executive at HF Holidays said, “The British Heart Foundation is such an inspirational charity and does so much to help the millions of people in the UK that are living with cardiovascular disease.

“We feel a great synergy with the charity, as walking is very good for the heart and regular walking can really help to improve your health and reduce the risk of heart disease, so we wanted to do something to show our support and help raise money for the vital work it does.

“But more than that, we want the #Walk500 challenge to inspire people to get outside and get walking! As well as being fun and a fantastic way to explore, it’s also a great way to keep active and stay healthy, regardless of age or agility, and it’s great for the heart and soul. We are hoping to walk further than 500 miles but we wanted to set ourselves a challenge to begin with.”
