Top five baking apps
The Great British Bake Off has sent the nation baking mad so we’ve selected the five best baking apps to have you whipping and kneading with the best of them…
The Great British Bake Off (£2.99)
The Great British Bake Off app, released this month, is a must-have for die-hard GBBO fans, as it offers easy access to the recipes featured in the TV series.
The app’s touch-free technology means no more sticky finger marks on your iPad/iPhone – the ‘cooking mode’ function moves you through step by step with no touching needed.
The Photo Cookbook – Baking (£2.49)
With simple instructions and professional photos, this is the perfect app for first time bakers. Each of the 60 recipes can be made quickly and easily, from savoury pastries, cookies and bread to sweet cakes and pies. In addition, you can add your own notes to tweak recipes and personalize them.
Martha Stewart Makes Cookies (69p)
This app has easy-to-follow videos, timers, ingredient lists and even a converter to change to your preferred measurement unit, which is really handy if you prefer imperial measurements. You can search the 90 recipes by flavour and share the recipes on Facebook, which makes it a nice app for researching and sharing.
Good Food Cake Recipe by the BBC (£1.99)
An easy-to-follow app that includes 170 recipes plus dietary details. If you are dieting, or have an allergy to certain ingredients (eg gluten), this is the app for you. The best bit is that the Good Food cookery team test all recipes to ensure they turn out as described.
Baking Recipes – Best Cookbook Ever (69p)
Home to 1,000 baking recipes and ideas from impressive birthday cakes to simple banana bread, this app is real value for money. The design is by no means as pretty as others, but the great thing about it is you don’t need an internet connection to use it.
