Insulation is an effective home improvement

Families looking to try and improve their homes should consider insulation, according to one organisation, which said that making the change is a good way to add value to a house.

Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), said that families on a budget can invest in insulation and make effective interior design changes in order to improve their property.

He said: “One thing we would urge people to do if they can’t afford to have a full extension is to look at the insulation of their homes – loft insulation, cavity wall insulation.”

Mr Leech added that with modern plumbing technology advances, families can also add an en suite bathroom to a bedroom to improve a home without spending a great deal of money.

Sainsbury’s Home Insurance recently revealed that more than three million homeowners in the UK plan to make structural changes to their property within the next year, with loft and garage conversions being among the most popular improvements.
