Half term

Half term fun for free

It hardly seems a week since the Christmas break, yet the kids are off again this month… Take a look at how to keep them busy without blowing the budget!

Take them on a ‘MESSY WALK’. Get the waterproofs on and tell them to get as muddy
as they like. They’ll love jumping in the puddles.

COLLECT leaves, twigs or whatever they can find in the garden. They can stick them on to card to create art!

Have a BAKING DAY. Chocolate-covered cereal cakes are easy and cheap to make,
and the kids can each decorate theirs with sweets and sprinkles.

VISIT A LOCAL MUSEUM. Most are free and put on extra activities over half term.

Make them NEWSPAPER EDITORS for the day. They can invent stories, interview friends and draw the pictures.

VISIT A FARM. They can get up close to the livestock and learn about life as a farmer.

Encourage MUSICALITY. Make instruments using containers, saucepans and spoons.
Then get them to write their own song, then hold X Factor-style auditions with you as the judge.

PAINT their faces and let them paint yours. Then be brave and head down to the shop
to see who gets the most giggles!
