Alison Hammond’s Bread and Butter PuddingIngredients:

Sugar
Mixed fruit (soaked in rum and sherry)
White bread
Vanilla essence
Milk
Nutmeg
2 eggs
Water

There is no measuring, just go with the flow

Method:

Soak mixed fruit in rum and sherry approx 1 month before due to make pud.

Butter 10 slices of white bread with real butter
Lay bread unevenly in baking dish
Sprinkle sugar over the top and add mixed fruit.
Repeat this until the baking dish is full of bread

Mix half pint cup of milk and half water add eggs vanilla essence and nutmeg . Mix and pour over the bread .
Add more sugar as required and bake in the oven for one hour at gas 140

Done! Serve with vanilla ice cream or custard.
